Take your medicine

The organizers who brought Alberta from essentially no green vote to a solid 6% of the vote have been dropped by the party. Calgary ridings scored 11.8%, 11.7%, and 10.3% in the last election (Calgarians know resources!) and it was due in large part to excellent on-the-ground organizing. These organizers are gone and I do not know who can fill their shoes.

Alberta is the greenest province in Canada with 6.6% of the vote. BC next with 5.3%. Ontario, where greens have frolicked in obscurity for decades only managed 4.3% last election. It might have been a good strategy to keep Alberta's organizers; especially that camera hog Mark MacGillivray. Maybe even have them train people in sorry old Ontario.

But re-organizations and Leader-centric tendencies have cost the Green Party its proven organizers. There must be reasons for such things that peons like myself fail to understand.

I understand that the Leader, Elizabeth May, is considering running in several ridings -- none of which are in Calgary. Strange. If I was Elizabeth, I'd run in Calgary North Centre -- the greenest riding in all of Canada. Mark would have her elected, of that I have no doubt. Somebody, somewhere, has what must be a better plan, I guess. (Hey, May! Calgary Centre North or Cape Breton-Canso. Those are your options, IMHO.)

Oh, well. We must take our medicine and manage the best we can. Maybe we'll be better for it.Recommend to those in the know.
